Custodian / Other Duties - Escalon High School (Internal Only)

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Principal or Head Custodian, keeps assigned rooms, areas of buildings, or office spaces clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly; performs other work as assigned.

Essential Functions Of This Position

May include, but not limited to:

• Working from oral and written instructions and assignments
• Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, or buff floors or other building surfaces with hand
  
  

tools and/or machines

• Vacuum rugs and carpets
• Dust and polish furniture and woodwork
• Empty and clean waste receptacles
• Remove cobwebs
• Clean blackboards, windows, mirrors, and walls
• Scrub, clean, and disinfect restrooms, shower rooms, and locker rooms
  
  

and fills soap and paper dispensers

• Polish metal work
• Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment
• Clean and adjust desks and other furniture
• Set up buildings and rooms for meetings and special events
• Replace lights
• Adjust shades and blinds
• Scrape and refinish floors
• Perform minor painting and minor repairs on furniture, equipment and
  
  

facilities

• Pick up paper on grounds and walks
• Unlock and lock doors to buildings
• Raise or lower flag
• Perform routine grounds keeping duties
• Assist in restoration of buildings and grounds during school vacation
• Help unload merchandise received at schools or District office
• Supervise work of student assistants
• Report unsafe conditions
• Perform, as directed, other duties consistent with the general areas of

Education / Experience

High school diploma or GED required

One year of work experience, preferably including some custodial or janitorial work.
