We are looking for a dynamic, energetic, flexible, and committed nutrition education professional to join the Education and Nutrition Policy Unit-School Nutrition Programs (ENPU-SNP).
As a member of the ENPU-SNP, and under the direction of the Nutrition Education Administrator, this position supports the establishment of nutrition and food service education as an integrated component of a comprehensive school system. This position serves as the subject matter expert for competitive foods, professional standards, and the local school wellness policy. This position also provides leadership for communication of state and federal policy in these areas via trainings, resources, web content, and management bulletins and coordinates the development and delivery of the Introduction to School Nutrition Program training program. The position leads cross-division projects resulting from newly instituted legislation, develops and conducts statewide trainings on K-12 nutrition standards, and oversees funding opportunities including apportionments and local assistance grants and contracts.
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in the Sacramento area. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office a minimum of two days per week and more as determined by business needs. This position requires up to 10 percent travel. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate state and federal policy. Independence, flexibility, and strong project management skills, including the ability to move projects through multiple work phases in collaboration with others in order to meet deadlines and develop quality deliverables. Being inquisitive and curious; willing to learn from others, and engage in self-directed learning; flexible; organized; resilient; proactive; and passionate about child nutrition.
