The Dorris-Eaton School is a well-established, independent, K-8, college preparatory school located in the East Bay city of San Ramon, CA. Part-time Lower School Science The Dorris-Eaton School is seeking a dynamic, dedicated lower school science educator who will foster a love of science in our 3rd and 4th grade students and work collaboratively with grade-level faculty to create a classroom environment where students are encouraged to take risks, actively participate, challenge themselves, and practice age-appropriate social skills. Beyond the classroom, teachers participate in and support school-wide activities designed to enhance their students' educational experience. The ideal candidate possesses a sense of humor and continuously seeks learning opportunities. The lower school science curriculum utilizes the Smithsonian Science Education Center's phenomena- and problem-solving modules in addition to carefully augmented curriculum to engage and challenge students. Key 3rd grade units are Space, Water, Animal Studies, and Motion and Design. In 4th grade, key units are Electric Circuits, Food Chemistry, Microworlds, and Human Body Systems.
