Under the direction of a Speech-Language Specialist, provides individual and small group speech therapy for students. Assists with speech and language screening of students. May, with training and supervision, as directed, administer but not interpret speech screenings. Assists supervisor to follow Individual Educational Plans (IEP's) for each student to develop daily or weekly instructional activities. Schedules activities, prepares charts, records, graphs or otherwise displays student performance data. Create, prepare, order, distribute and present materials and supplies to obtain the educational objectives of the students. Alert the Speech-Language Specialist and appropriate staff to the special needs, progress, and behavior of students. Prepare checks and maintenance of augmentative communication devices and equipment. Assist in maintaining the therapy space as a sanitary, safe, orderly, attractive and positive learning environment. Immediately recognize, report and correct unsafe conditions. Assure the health and safety of students, providing supervision in classroom and non-classroom school settings and at various school functions. Assist certificated staff in completing forms, reports and other paperwork; Prepare documents and reports, maintain records and perform routine clerical tasks such as typing, computer operation, filing and photocopying; Perform other related duties, as assigned. Must possess an Associates of Arts or higher degree from an approved Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program. Must possess a valid Speech-language Pathology Assistant Registration through the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board. Must possess a valid license issued by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
