HERMOSA BEACH CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description Noon Duty Aide BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the principal. Supervises students during the time encompassing the lunch period. The noon supervisor is directly responsible to the school principal and keeps him/her informed at all times concerning the responsibility contained herein. Noon duty aides relate to pupils in a supervisory capacity. Pupils are required to submit to their authority. The establishment of wholesome, ideal rapport is the goal in the noon duty aide/pupil relationship. The noon duty aide works cooperatively with the administration, school staff, classified personnel and community resource people in carrying out district and school rules and policies. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 1. Report to principal or assigned area per instructions of the principal. 2. Supervise lunch, playground and hall areas as instructed. 3. Maintain order and adherence to rules and orderly procedure in eating area. 4. Supervise and enforce school rules on the playground. 5. Supervise games on school grounds and be acquainted with games and rules and regulations. 6. Be alert to safety factors on the playground, lunch area and rest rooms. 7. Keep children in range of vision -- circulate around the area assigned. 8. Know and follow the established procedures in case of accidents or injuries. 9. Help direct and control pupils in the event of an emergency such as fire, earthquake, etc. 10. Supervise rest room area for proper use. 11. Discipline pupils that do not comply with school rules, by use of reasoning, loss of playground privileges, or referral to the principal. 12. Set an example and model for children regarding leadership, moral character, health practices, dress and proper use of voice and language. 13. Supervise dismissals from playground and lunch areas as per prescribed procedure. 14. Report any unusual circumstance or safety hazards to the principal. 15. Such other duties as may be assigned by the principal.
