Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager III, Workforce Development and Organizational Support Branch, the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) directly manages and provides policy oversight to the Workforce Development Section (WDS). The Section provides oversight to the workforce and succession planning, training and development, and leadership development functions for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA). The SSM II will manage and groom leaders to ensure the execution of highly sensitive and complex assignments and projects for the Section, including various enrichment and engagement programs and initiatives such as the Annual Leadership Conference, the Leadership Development Program, and the CDTFA Engagement Survey. The incumbent will also be required to work directly with all levels of senior management including the Director's Office on CDTFA Business and Strategic Planning Initiatives to ensure the department is able to carry out its mission and goals. The SSM II will be responsible for producing various reports and metrics for the Section and will provide recommendations to senior management appropriately. The SSM II must exercise a high degree of initiative and independence as well as demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time to attend meetings and training.
