Tutor - YouthBuild

Position Description:
The Tutor is a part-time role designed to provide key mentoring and tutoring support to participants in the YouthBuild Plus program. This position focuses on implementing strategies to facilitate transitions to post-secondary education and advanced training. The tutor will collaborate closely with educational partners and assist in developing personalized educational plans to help youth and young adults achieve academic success.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one tutoring to youth and young adults in the program.
• Implement strategies for smooth transitions to post-secondary education and advanced training.
• Collaborate with education partners to support youth in reaching their educational plan goals.
• Maintain organized records of student progress and communication.
• Foster a motivational and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or a career path towards being credentialed as a teacher.
• Strong math skills and organizational abilities.
• Ability to pass background checks, including DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse, and drug screening.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

*Desired Work Experience:*

Experience in mentoring, tutoring, or educational support is preferred.

*Special Certifications Needed:*

None required, but teaching credentials or certifications in youth development are a plus.

*Extra Qualifications:*

Strong communication skills and a passion for working with youth.
Previous experience in nonprofit settings or educational programs is advantageous.
