California Faucets is looking to bring on a talented Product Design Engineer . This role is based on site in our Huntington Beach, CA manufacturing facility. The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, full-time from 8 : 00 a.m. - 5 : 00 p.m.

The Design Engineer is responsible for the following areas of responsibility :

CAD Design

Use CAD system to design 3D detailed components

Create multi-level 3D assemblies

Create detailed component and assemble 2D print drawings

Use personal background / knowledge to contribute to product development

Engineering Evaluation / Research

Perform first article inspection / evaluation of newly sourced product(s)

Perform physical functional testing of product(s) in test & assembly areas

Research or test material strengths, behaviors, physical properties, etc.

Maintain Product Specifications

Use CAD system to perform changes and / or updates to product specifications sheets

Distribute product specifications to various departments within organization

Bill of Materials (BOM)

Enter and maintain master BOM / Assembly drawings for all company products

Verify that BOMs in MRP system are identical to master drawings

Verify that part numbering is consistent throughout all BOMs

Technical Writing

Assist in creating Installation Instructions

Update existing Installation Instruction to incorporate engineering changes

Additional Duties

Make significant decisions that impact the production and productivity of the business.

Exercise judgment which determines the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

Adding input to major strategic and tactical decisions made to increase quality, safety, and productivity.

Performing additional assignments per management direction.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

People Interface :

The position requires contact primarily within the department on routine matters as well as contact with various levels of Operations and Quality Control.

Decision Making :

The position requires working from detailed instructions as well as the use of judgment to plan and perform general decisions to solve a problem or select a course of action for a standard or recognized method of operation.

Education and Experience :

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering).

Minimum 2 years’ working experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD software.

Knowledge of basic drafting principles.

Ability to use various engineering tools (e.g. calipers, thread gages, etc.)

Two years of experience working with AutoCAD.

Knowledge of various metal manufacturing processes is a plus.

Experience working with multi-level BOMs is a plus.

Experience working with MRP / ERP systems is a plus
