Position Title: Human Resources Generalist

Position Reports to: Human Resources and Payroll Manager
Summary Description
The Human Resources Generalist role is a position that supports in several functions within the Human Resources (HR) and all entities of California Giant Inc. The role is self-starting in nature and operates under general direction to accomplish respective work and goals.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
The incumbent will be assigned several, but not all areas of responsibility described based on department needs
- Benefits: Support the benefits program through effective administration, enrollments, communication, education, ACA, wellness program, and executing the strategy
- Employee Relations: Assist in investigating and resolving basic workplace matters with the utmost sense of confidentiality and respect, involving the HR Manager or HRD based on the situation
- Engagement: Support company initiatives to drive employee engagement
- FMLA / LOA: Administer Leaves of Absence (LOA’s) in accordance with applicable laws
- Legal & Policy: Stay current on different laws that impact HR and Safety
- Philanthropy and Company Events: Supports the company’s philanthropic and company events to create an excellent employee experience
- Recruiting & Onboarding: Collaborate with hiring managers to facilitate the process from job description review, marketing & sourcing, interviewing, offers, and onboarding
- Retirement Plans (401k): Administer and support retirement programs through enrollment, education, legal notices, and audits
- Manage DMV records
- Work with the Safety committee to build safety programs company wide.
- Social Audits: Supports teams with various social and regulatory audits
- Continuously look for ways to improve sustainability practices in your daily work routine and seek opportunities to contribute to sustainability goals set by your organization
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years’ experience working within a human resources team
- Knowledge of payroll & HR practices, applicable safety & labor laws, and procedures, including agriculture practices
- Knowledge of payroll systems/HRIS, Microsoft Office, and reporting capabilities
- Discretion in handling confidential information and sensitive documents
- Demonstrate a strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skill
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Works well both independently and in a team environment
- Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and ability to multi-task with excellent time management skills
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality and accuracy while meeting deadlines including completing all work according to the Company’s procedures and standards
- Ability to travel to other locations
- Ability to conduct training at different sites in-person or via video
- Ability to work with highly diverse workforce
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business Administration, or related field
- SHRM-CP or industry related certification
- Biliterate English/Spanish
Physical Requirements
Job requires ability to sit for long periods of time to perform duties. Also required is the ability to walk around and make inquiries from other staff, management, etc. Must be able to bend or stoop down to access file cabinets including lifting of items or objects up to 10 pounds.
