Die Maker Apprentice (Steel Rule & Wood)

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Die Maker Apprentice. In this hands-on role, you will learn the rewarding craft of creating steel rule dies used for cutting a variety of materials.
Responsibilities:
- Learn the fundamentals of die making, including job applications, die ejections, rule and punch selection, and proper inventory management.
- Assist experienced Die Makers with tasks such as layout from drawings to die boards, steel rule forming with tooling and benders, and creating notches.
- Develop and maintain accurate inventories of die boards, punches, and other components.
- Operate shop equipment safely and effectively, including table saws, jig saws, drill presses, and lathes.
- Read and understand engineered drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Apply mathematical skills including reading tape measures, understanding decimals and fractions, performing multiplication and subtraction.
Qualifications:
- Strong desire to learn and a willingness to take direction
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Ability to read and write fluently in English
- Basic math skills including reading tape measures, understanding decimals and fractions, performing multiplication and subtraction
- Ability to read and understand basic engineered drawings
- Experience with common woodworking and metalworking tools (table saw, jig saw, drill press, lathe a plus)
