Basic Function:
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Assessment & Accreditation, the Director of Field Experiences for the Graduate School of Education is a pivotal role that bridges the gap between the university and local K-12 schools, ensuring candidates receive high-quality field experiences essential for their professional growth. This position involves coordinating placements for the teaching programs, fostering partnerships with school districts, monitoring compliance with state accreditation standards, supporting candidates through data-driven decision-making and targeted interventions, and supporting all GSOE programs in data management. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of K-12 education, strong organizational skills, and a passion for preparing the next generation of educators.

Representative Duties:Teaching Placements:
Director 40 hours of Foundations fieldwork and maintain a list of observation sites available to candidates.
Assign teacher candidates to placements that align with their program requirements and professional goals.
Establish and maintain partnerships with local K-12 schools to facilitate quality field placements.
Ensure compliance with university and state accreditation standards by monitor placement requirements.
Mediate concerns that arise between teacher candidates, university supervisors, and cooperating teachers.
Prepare remediation plans for teacher candidates who are underperforming in the field, providing targeted support and intervention.

Managing Supervisors:
Recruit and select university supervisors to work with candidates.
Director regular meetings with university supervisors to support candidate development.
Time card approval.
Ensure degree/credential match in collaboration with the Credential Analyst.
Design and provide Pupil Personnel Services supervisor training.
Cooperating Teachers
Through established district protocols, assist with the recruitment of cooperating teachers.
Facilitate meetings with cooperating teachers to support candidate development.
Maintain records of 10 hours of professional development
Ensure degree/credential match

Data Management:
Oversee all field placement data for credential programs in teaching, school counseling, and administration.
Aggregate and disaggregate placement data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Coordinate with program faculty to integrate field experiences with coursework and program outcomes.
Represent the university in accreditation-related matters pertaining to field placements.
Monitor district MOUs in collaboration with the Budget Analyst.

Meetings:
Meetings with AD, Credential Analyst, and Dean as needed
Meet with GSOE Leadership Team monthly
Attend GSOE and Department of Learning & Teaching Monthly Meetings
Other Duties as Assigned

Knowledge Of:
Comprehensive understanding of K-12 school systems, including curriculum, policies, and classroom practices.
Teacher preparation standards and field placement requirements for state accreditation.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Database software (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)

Ability To:
Establish and maintain relationships with school district personnel, university supervisors, and cooperating teachers.
Organize, communicate, and analyze field experience data from multiple programs (credentials in teaching, school counseling, and administration).
Support candidates from diverse backgrounds and use of culturally responsive approaches.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field and 2 years of experience in K-12 education, such as classroom teaching, school administration, and/or experience coordinating or managing field placements in educational settings.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Understanding of student management programs (e.g., Taskstream and/or Watermark)
Extensive professional experience in Ventura County K-12 schools or similar districts.
In-depth knowledge of state accreditation and licensure requirements for education preparation programs.
Demonstrated ability to aggregate, analyze, and interpret data for program improvement.
California educational credential

Detect to understand appropriate written correspondence; communicate clearly to exchange information in person and on the telephone; operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer; stationary position for extended periods of time; move or transport light objects up to 15 lbs; position self to store and/or retrieve files

Hiring Range $68,640- $70,000
