Communications Director
GENERAL STATEMENT :
Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Communications & Strategic Initiatives, the Communications Director is responsible for communications strategies to generate awareness among California’s 30,000 manufacturers and engage CMTA’s members. The Communications Director’s work will encompass a variety of functions, such as overseeing CMTA’s social media, website, and programming for events. This role will be pivotal in shaping the organization’s messaging, driving content aligned with the annual objectives, and fostering engagement with CMTA’s members.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :
- Create engaging content : Generate compelling communications and marketing content for various channels, including press releases, blog posts, social media, newsletters, and advertisements. Ensure all content is accurate, timely, and aligned with CMTA’s brand voice and messaging guidelines. Utilize storytelling techniques to convey complex information in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Manage digital presence : Oversee the organization’s digital presence, including the website, social media channels, email marketing, and online advertising. Develop and implement strategies to grow and engage CMTA’s online audience, increase website traffic, and drive conversions. Lead the development of social media content, while monitoring social media conversations, tracking metrics, and responding to comments and messages in a timely manner.
- Produce marketing materials : Lead the development and production of marketing materials, such as brochures, presentations, infographics, videos, advertisements, and social media content. Collaborate with the Communications Marketing Associate to ensure materials are visually appealing, on-brand, and effectively communicate key messages. Coordinate printing, distribution, and promotion efforts as needed.
- Monitor and analyze performance : Utilize analytics tools and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the impact and effectiveness of communications and marketing efforts. Monitor media coverage, website traffic, social media engagement, email open rates, event attendance, and other relevant metrics. Prepare regular reports and presentations to share insights, trends, and recommendations with CMTA leadership and members.
- Stay informed and proactive : Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory developments, and current events that may impact CMTA and its members. Monitor news sources, industry publications, and social media channels for relevant content to identify key marketing opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams : Work closely with colleagues across departments, including government relations and membership, to align messaging, coordinate efforts, and achieve shared objectives. Provide communications and marketing support for events, conferences, workshops, and other activities. Serve as a strategic advisor and resource for staff on communications and marketing best practices.

SALARY RANGE : 75k to $90k (DOE)
Employees will also be eligible for an annual performance bonus, which is dependent on your individual performance and the financial performance of the organization.
