California Montessori Project is a public, tuition-free, TK-8, charter school network in the Greater Sacramento Area. We have over 2,800 students at our six schools, which are authorized by the four school districts in which they geographically reside.
The California Montessori Project provides a Montessori curriculum, integrated with the California state standards, to provide hands-on education in a child-focused format. Our classrooms are multi-grade, have small class sizes (averaging 24 students per class), and most have both a lead teacher and a teaching assistant. We encourage peer-to-peer collaborations, small-group learning, and independence.

Job Summary
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about working with children. The Club Montessori staff works in our before/after school program and is an important member in improving the quality of educational opportunities, supervision of students, and other activities. Club Montessori staff commonly work from 1-6pm, Monday through Friday, 20-28 hours per week (sometimes mornings 7-8:30am or earlier on Wednesday Early Release Days 12-6pm), depending on the campus need and assignment. . Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of sound early childhood and elementary education, development concepts and principles within the Montessori goals and philosophy.
- Monitor and observe the daily operation of classrooms for safety, positive interaction and productive educational activity.
- Report problems or progress and suggestions to the Teachers for improvement and possible corrective action.
- Participate in monthly planning sessions with the Teacher.
- Direct activities as assigned by the Teachers or Director.
- In before care provide support for the children in this transition from home to school. At end of day prepare children for transition from school to home.
- In before care open up, prepare environment to receive children, heating, cooling, orderly, and clean. At closing close down and lock down prepared for the following day.
- Create learning materials on a monthly basis as needed to complete lesson plans.
- Develop, prepare and implement plans appropriate to children and time of the year.
- Maintain a stimulating educational environment, directing children in a positive and respectful environment.
- Communicate with parents/guardians, teachers, regarding child’s daily activities.
- Notify Director and Teacher of unusual circumstances to include infectious disease, injury, illness and accident.
- Complete required reports related to accidents and injuries in accordance with school policies.
- Attend seminars, conferences, in-service training, staff meetings and parent/guardian meetings as directed by Teacher.
- Ensure all classroom supplies are sufficient and report additional supplies needed to the Teacher.
- Clean and sanitize all manipulative materials and apparatuses on a weekly basis.
- Adhere to state and government regulations appropriate to school operational procedures.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom to include dusting, mopping and vacuuming as necessary.
- Coordinate with teachers for homework club, tutoring, student educational needs and extra curricula activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for application: High School graduate with 48 college units or AA degree (or ability to pass the para professional exam)
