Reporting to the Training & Development Manager, the Training and Development Specialist develops and executes the delivery of educational programs, training courses, and standard work to maintain a best practice in each area. The Training and Development Specialist will drive all activities to support best practices and Continuous Improvement in each area. This position is to be in alignment with the overall mission and vision of the organization (5S, Kaizen, OFIs, Root Cause Analysis, Grants &, Gehl’s Management Operating Systems).
Job Responsibilities:
- Organizing, developing, or sourcing training programs to meet specific training needs for all positions within the plant.
- Work closely with Training and Development Manager to gain alignment and ensure on track completion of assignments.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts and other key staff members to develop material to support machine optimization and staff training.
- Develop training material in accordance with plant training standards.
- Test all developed materials before putting them into production to ensure the material is correct and that you have a clear understanding of the process.
- Work with subject matter experts to identify tasks that will assist in mapping out learning plans for each plant position.
- Work with leaders to hand off training materials so they will eventually be able to take over the training of all new and existing employees.
- Work with CI Coordinator to ensure the proper platform is utilized for tracking purposes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company’s Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Attend & participate in Daily Management Systems (DMS) & Short Interval Control (SIC) meetings.
- Ability to work various hours, across all shifts, and to support plant goals as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Training &Development Manager. (Standard Work, BBS, 5S, Kaizen, OFIs, Grants, Root Cause Analysis, and ETC.)
Weekly Expectations:
- 50% - Training on the Floor
- 25% - In Classroom Training.
- 15% - Typing up breakdowns, instruction sheets, and PowerPoints Presentations.
- 10% - Attending meetings and taking breaks.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience working in a food manufacturing or maintenance function.
- Possesses strong self-motivation, detail orientation, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate analytical skills and possess excellent research abilities.
- Ability to inventory and maintain all training departments resources.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task under stressful circumstances and often limited supervision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and task management.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher)
Preferred Qualification
- Bi-lingual preferred (English, Spanish)
- Filler, Packaging, or Processing Operations experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Alchemy, RedZone and excel spreadsheet.
- Associate degree
Equipment Operated: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, iPads and smartphones.
Physical Activity:
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, and move about.
- Occasionally squat, bend, kneel, climb, reach overhead, lift/carry/push/pull 50 lbs.
Additional Compensation – Bonus Potential:
You will be eligible to participate in the Gehl Food & Beverage Bonus Program for non-exempt employees. Under this Program, quarterly and annual bonus payouts are based on achievement of targeted production numbers. Gehl Foods, LLC reserves the right to change the Bonus Program at anytime, without notice.
Working Conditions:
Frequently exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-130 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, vibration, moving machinery/electrical parts, risk of electrical shock, airborne particles, high/precarious places, toxic/caustic chemicals, allergens including soy, milk and milk by-products and fumes from food processing equipment.
