Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pre-Op Nurse to join our surgical team. The Pre-Op Nurse will play a vital role in ensuring patients are prepared for surgery by assessing their health status, providing education, and preparing them physically and emotionally for their procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a deep commitment to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments of patients, including medical history, vital signs, and lab results.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure readiness for surgery.
- Educate patients and their families on the surgical procedure, recovery process, and post-operative care.
- Administer pre-operative medications as prescribed and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
- Provide emotional support to patients, addressing any concerns or anxieties related to surgery.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile environment for pre-operative procedures.
- Assist in the coordination of patient scheduling and preparation for surgery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current state licensure.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pre-operative, surgical, or related nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a surgical or outpatient setting.
- Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) or related specialty.
Working Conditions:
