This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. As another benefit to our employees, we have a 7-hour per day/35-hour work week.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant shall assist in the timely maintenance of all fiscal books of record and the preparation of all other financial documents and reports for CRIHB in matters pertaining to financial accounting, analysis, and reporting.
Essential Functions:
1. Reviews general ledger and prepare journal entries/adjustments as needed to correct balances.
2. Assists in the transaction preparation, posting and reconciliations for all books of account and related journals.
3. Reconciles general ledger accounts as part of closing the month, the year or grant.
4. Reviews vouchers for required coding, supporting documentation, finance policy compliance and authorizations.
5. Prepares and maintains Excel spreadsheets.
6. Prepares grant reports with supporting documentation.
7. Reconciles bank statements each month.
8. Prepares audit schedules as needed for annual and funding source audits.
9. Regular and predictable attendance.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a valid, unrestricted California Driver’s license and ability to be insurable under CRIHB’s automobile insurance. If employee has a valid license from another state, he/she must obtain a CA license within 2 months of hiring date.
2. Position requires occasional over night travel within CRIHB’s service area.
3. Requires ability to drive up to 7 hours a day.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, or related field with 24 semester units in accounting from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years experience in accounting.
2. Knowledge of and experience in automated financial record keeping systems (preferably Blackbaud) and complex spread sheets (preferably Microsoft Excel).
3. Work with minimal supervision.
4. Ability to multitask.
5. Experience in time management and meeting deadlines.
6. Experience or knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing processes.
Salary Range: $32.84 - $35.03. Compensation will be determined by the candidate's experience, qualifications, and budget considerations.
This position requires an awareness and keen appreciation of American Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs and the ability at all times to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian organizations which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified American Indians in accordance with the Indian Preference Act (Title 25, U.S. Code, Sections 472 and 473). Applicants claiming Indian Preference must submit Indian verification, certified by Tribe of affiliation or other acceptable documentation of Indian heritage.
