Job Overview
Under occasional supervision, the Ride Electrical Maintenance Manager plans, schedules and manages the electrical maintenance of Park rides. They coordinate projects with other park departments, contractors and ride manufacturers as required. The manager supervises and reviews the work of subordinate supervisory staff, performs related administrative, supervisory and technical duties as required, and reports to the Director of Maintenance and Construction.
Key Responsibilities
- The manager must have thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Park as they pertain to the performance of duties in this position. This includes knowledge of laws, ordinances, standards and regulations related to electrical/electronics maintenance and repair, including PLC's, Motors, Drives, Switches, Sensors.
- They plan, schedule and supervise the electrical maintenance of Park rides.
- The manager supervises subordinate supervisory staff, which includes scheduling, instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, selecting new employees, acting on employee problems, recommending promotions, transfers and discharge, and approving disciplinary action.
- They review the work of subordinates for effectiveness, evaluate and make recommendations as appropriate, offer advice and assistance as needed, and provide opportunities for effective training.
- The manager assists in developing the ride electrical maintenance budget, monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with budget allocations, approves and processes purchase orders.
- They oversee daily inspections of rides, ensuring proper inspection documentation, take necessary action to ensure compliance with established codes and regulations.
- The manager inspects all work in progress and completed for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, specifications, and standards of quality and safety.
- They assist in planning, developing and implementing the annual ride maintenance program, prepare ride inspection manuals.
- The manager assists in coordinating and supervising the installation of new rides and equipment.
- They participate in the development of long-range plans related to ride electrical/mechanical maintenance projects.
- The manager coordinates maintenance projects with other Park departments, contractors, ride manufacturers as necessary, corporate engineers, and performs maintenance duty as scheduled.
- They receive and respond to inquiries, concerns and complaints from associates and guests regarding ride safety and maintenance.
- The manager interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, other Park managers and staff, subordinates, guests, vendors, contractors, consultants, engineers, manufacturer representatives, third party and State inspectors, etc.
- They provide technical assistance in the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of rides as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (4 year College or University) is required.
- 5 - 7 years related experience, specifically in Electrical Engineering and Electrical Maintenance/Controls, is preferred.
- The manager requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics of data, people or things.
- They must be able to apply influence systems in managing a staff, learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques, make independent judgments in absence of supervision, acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
- Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the above requirements.
- The manager directs other employees' daily work activities, undertakes or recommends employment actions such as hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.
- Knowledge of control processors, components, and communication networks used in real-time industrial applications.
- They are proficient in developing and reading electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and technical documents.
- The manager has knowledge of various ride mechanics, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drive systems, barring types and installations.
- Experience in motor and motion control methods and components is required.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs is essential.
