Job Description:
The Instructional Assistant - Behavioral Intervention provides support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities to provide implementation and modeling of research-based interventions in various educational settings. This role assists instructional staff and students in achieving academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompanies and monitors students during activities such as assemblies, lunch, recess, and community outings for maintaining student safety and assisting in the development of social skills.
- Assists instructional staff in preparing and presenting instructional materials to improve learning skills and social development of assigned students.
- Provides physical care and personal hygiene services to students according to their individualized educational, health, and behavior plans.
- Collaborates with instructional staff and supervisor to assist in achieving student and program goals.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience working with children in an organized setting may be considered equivalent.
- Experience working with students with autism and/or applied behavioral analysis (ABA) is highly desirable.
- Ability to work under limited supervision following standardized practices and methods.
- Flexibility to work with diverse individuals and groups, including those with varying abilities and needs.
Work Environment:
The job requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as seeing and hearing to exchange information. The worker will typically spend 40% sitting, 35% walking, and 25% standing. Exposure to risk of injury and/or illness is possible.
