Description :
SBCTA, which serves as San Bernardino County’s transportation commission, authority, and council of governments, seeks an experienced attorney for its Assistant General Counsel position. Under the direction of General Counsel, this position provides a broad range of complex legal services in support of SBCTA / SBCOG goals and objectives and protects the agency from risk and loss.
Qualifications :
A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and five to seven years of experience advising public agency clients. A fundamental knowledge of the following is required :
- Public contracting and procurement practices
- Conflicts of interest
- Brown Act and Public Records Act
- Construction law
- CEQA / NEPA
- Public agency risk mitigation
- Real property, eminent domain, and inverse condemnation laws
- Other public sector legal practices
Transportation-related experience is a plus but not required. Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of California and possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance, as occasional travel throughout the County and the Southern California region may be required.
