The Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Summer 2025 to teach OM 690-1: Machine Learning for Business Analytics. Please note that as of Fall 2025, Machine Learning for Business Analytics will begin using OM 618 as the course number.

Course Description

This course provides an in-depth introduction to Machine Learning for Business Intelligence, including a range of models and algorithms for prediction, classification, dimension reduction, and network analytics, utilizing open-source software. The class emphasizes hands-on exercises and real business case studies. Also addresses managerial and ethical considerations essential for the responsible application of Machine Learning techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A master's degree in the area of instruction, or a closely related field
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching Experience in Business Analytics areas
  • Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary Commensurate With Degree Level And Experience

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $2,203 - $2,671 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $1,101 - $6,084 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
