Overview
The Engine Trainer / Dealer Trainer is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating technical training programs for Technicians. This role ensures participants gain in-depth knowledge of engine systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices, aligning with industry standards and the company’s operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Become a DTNA (Daimler Truck North America) Certified Engine Trainer
- Design and develop comprehensive training modules, including classroom, hands-on, and virtual components.
- Create training materials, manuals, and presentations for engines and related systems.
- Stay updated on new technologies, products, and industry advancements to ensure training content remains current and relevant.
- Conduct technical training sessions for dealer technicians, service advisors, and sales teams.
- Facilitate hands-on workshops on engine assembly, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate trainee performance and knowledge retention.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on engine technologies and dealership operations.
- Provide technical support to dealers and field teams as required.
- Work closely with dealerships to identify specific training needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant attendance, and certification statuses.
- Generate reports to measure training effectiveness and ROI.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field
- or 5-10 Year Shop Experience
Proven experience in engine systems, dealership operations, or technical training.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of engine components, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
- Proficiency in using training tools and software.
- Ability to travel to various dealership locations as required.
Preferred Skills
- Expert Certification in Detroit Heavy Duty or Medium Duty engine repair / diagnostics
- Experience with e-learning platforms and digital training tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications, Word, Excel, Power point, and Adobe PDF
- Multilingual proficiency is a plus.
