Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Biology/Chemistry Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both subjects, experience in teaching high school students, and a commitment to fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment. This role includes both classroom instruction and participation in extracurricular activities, as we are a boarding school with an active student life.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for Biology and Chemistry courses that align with state standards and Cognia accreditation requirements.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles and ensure student success.
- Design and administer assessments, track student progress, and provide timely feedback.
- Conduct laboratory experiments and ensure lab safety procedures are followed.
- Encourage scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in students.
- Provide academic support through tutoring, office hours, or additional guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary projects.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
- Engage in student life activities, including advisory roles, mentoring, and supervision.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Biology, Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of teaching experience at the high school level (boarding school experience is a plus).
- Skills:
- Strong classroom management and student engagement techniques.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory experiments and safety protocols.
- Ability to integrate technology and modern teaching methods in the classroom.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Preferred: Experience with AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or IB curriculum is a plus.
