Job Description :
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining LAN and WAN networks. The candidate should also have solid experience working with security professionals to implement best practices in the network. The ideal candidate will ensure the security, reliability and scalability of our network systems while supporting mission-critical applications and processes.
This role is pivotal in driving operational efficiency , cybersecurity and the integration of emerging technologies within our utility network. This position is located in San Jose, CA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Design, implement, and manage LAN and WANnetworkinfrastructure, including SDWAN devices, VPN's, switches, firewalls and wireless systems.
Ensurenetworksecurity through segmentation and wireless role configurations.
Monitor hardware health andnetworkconnectivity health, performance, uptime and capacity.
Develop and maintain Linux scripts or equivalent fornetworkautomation and management.
Lead security-related initiatives and projects.
Collaborate with security professionals to implement best practices in thenetwork.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for allnetworkprocesses and configurations.
Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including management, vice presidents, and individual contributors.
Remain calm under pressure and handle high-stress situations with professionalism.
Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and risk mitigation.
Respond tonetworkincidents, ensuring prompt resolution to minimize downtime.
Provide Tier 3 support for complex issues escalated by IT staff.
Work closely with IT staff, engineers, and external vendors to implement new technologies and resolve issues.
Mentor juniornetworkadministrators and provide technical guidance.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 15 years of experience innetworkengineering.
Extensive experience with Cisconetworkdevices.
Proficiency with Palo AltoNetworkfirewalls.
Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3networking.
Experience withnetworksecurity initiatives, includingnetworksegmentation and wireless role configurations.
Proficiency in Linux scripting or equivalent.
Experience withnetworking in PaaS environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications :
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, CISSP,PCNSE).
Experience withnetworkmonitoring tools and software.
Knowledge of cloudnetworking and security.
Salary Range : $124,600 - $222,800
