Job Description:
The Digital Content Intern – Web Programs supports all external-facing digital communication activities and objectives, including writing, editing, and electronic publishing for online channels. This position will help develop, implement, and assist with customer-facing, strategic web platforms and projects.This position supports public-facing digital communications for California Water Service Group and its subsidiaries. The position reports to the Manager, Digital Content and is located in Torrance, California.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities and duties of the Digital Content Intern, Web Programs will include, but not be limited to:
Creating and implementing strategic digital communications campaigns that support the company’s strategic framework and live on the company’s web sites and other online platforms
Creating and publishing annual, digital Consumer Confidence Reports for all water systems and related customer outreach materials
Writing and editing regular and emergency content for web sites, and ensuring content stays updated
Ensuring web sites and other online platforms align with best practices and are leading-edge, effective tools for key audiences
Customizing digital content for individual districts
Assisting in creating, setting up, and launching phone/text message/email notifications in Customer Outreach Portal
Monitoring use of logo/branding to ensure consistency
Understanding regulatory and legal policies and procedures to ensure online/digital materials comply with all laws and requirements
Maintaining accessibility of all web sites
Ensuring search engine optimization of web sites and pages
Maintaining intranet pages for company, department, and districts and assisting with content
Documenting, implementing, and managing approved web-based initiatives.
Customizing digital content for different audiences.
Assisting with the building of monthly bill onserts/inserts for customer bills and scheduling them in DocWeb for delivery with customer bills.
Supporting the IT department with server- and security-based initiatives, WP Engine protocols, plugin updates, and monitoring of all incoming email traffic for cyber-security concerns.
Support other departments with public-facing online communications and internal communications as appropriate.
Configuring, writing scripts for, and monitoring automated production tools
Developing and managing tools for automation of web-related tasks.
Maintaining search engine optimization of web sites and pages.
Working with internal managers, outside printers, digital content providers, consultants, and other vendors to produce and distribute materials.
Participating in and supporting the company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects.
Attending meetings and training courses as directed by Cal Water.
Performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma
Full-time student in a 4-year program, working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or similar field and/or equivalent
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of html
Website building or Wordpress experience preferred
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Able to plan, organize, prioritize, and multitask
Valid California Driver License
Salary Range: $25.00 - $27.00
