What are the responsibilities and job description for the Route Sales Supervisor position at Calise Bakery?
You will be leading and directing the Route Sales staff who deliver New England's favorite bulky rolls and other bread products to retail, restaurant, and institutional channel business on a pre-determined established route! We currently have openings in our Wallingford distribution depot for box truck drivers. Must be friendly and have good attention to detail. The chosen candidate will be responsible to ensure customers are receiving orders on time and in the quantities they have ordered. Calise will depend on you to successfully manage time-sensitive deliveries and assure fresh product conditions in retail outlets. This is a full-time, salaried position with Sundays and most Wednesdays off. Previous experience required. Must have the ability to acquire a DOT Medical card and maintain a clean driving record. No CDL required. Excellent benefits including vacation (PTO) and holiday pay. Free package of bread each day too!
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide daily supervision and direction for team of Route Sales personnel
- Ensure implementation of Company safety, sales , and marketing strategies
- Ensure implementation of Company employee safety program
- Assist Sales Manager with maintenance, sanitation and security of depot
- Responsible for scheduling self and sales team to meet the needs of the business
- Maintain close working relationship and communication with Regional Sales Manager and Director
- Manage all sales related activities in assigned position and territory
- Develop and maintain working relationship with customers
- Assist Sales Manager with product orders and product flow from trailer door to market
- Demonstrate leadership, team building, and conflict resolution for work group
- Execute established Company safety, sales, and marketing strategies
- Operate Company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
- Responsible for reporting to work on time to met the needs of the business. Early mornings required.
- Responsible for accurate accounting of product received and sold and revenues generated or received
- Responsible for participating in all activities set out by the company in support of the Food Safety Modernization Act
- Everyone has responsibility to support and follow our Food Safety and Food Defense programs
Physical capabilities - must be able to perform physical requirements of the position including lifting (min 25 lbs)
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Minimum 3-5 years of DSD service or sales experience
- Have a clean driving record
- Pass criminal background check
- Pass drug test
- Have the ability to climb repeatedly, stand, and sit for long periods of time
- Reach overhead on a regular basis
- Obtain a DOT medical card
Work skills required:
- Industry specific knowledge – must have direct working experience in retail and food service business
- General business knowledge – must have general knowledge of budget formation, business strategies, and profitability
- Job related knowledge – must have effective skills in selling , negotiating, leadership through example , decision making , communication (written and oral), and enthusiasm for the position
