JOB SUMMARY:

The Chemist III will utilize their knowledge and experience to synthesize data on environmental projects. Additional duties include providing support for the preparation of work plans, reports, SAPs/QAPPs, and UFP-QAPPs; data validation and data management; communicating with the subcontract laboratory; review of technical documents; and Access database management. Personal initiative, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance. Assignments are deadline-driven so must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistent level of high quality in a high-pressure environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support environmental investigations and assessments in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines and as directed by Project Management staff.
  • Adhere to schedule and financial objectives, controlling time and expenditures to achieve project goals.
  • Work with technical staff in support of project objectives and field operations.
  • Provide scientific and technical guidance, support, and coordination to project staff preparing written project documentation.
  • Evaluate and select data collection methods and procedures to be employed in site surveys and investigations.
  • Participate and lead in creating an effective team dynamic
  • Provide Tech/QC of chemistry docs
  • Be a lead author of chemistry docs
  • Be a technical liaison for Clients
  • Lead a proactive safety culture
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.


SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:

  • Managing the workflow of employees, creating team schedules and delegating tasks
  • Assessing the work performance of employees and identifying areas that need improvement
  • Ensuring that business goals, deadlines and performance standards are met
  • Training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles
  • Setting goals for workers and making sure they comply with the company’s plans and vision
  • Reporting performance records and evaluations to HR and senior management


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the practical application of environmental science and technology.
  • Ability to use scientific rules and methods to solve problems, and logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Access proficiently.
  • Ability to effectively lead projects and work with multi-disciplined teams.
  • Ability to proactively identify tasks to be completed, be self-directed, and accountable for results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively & collaborate productively
  • Ability to demonstrate positional expertise.
  • Ability to understand the business and finance needs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Studies, or other related discipline required.
  • Seven to fifteen years of experience working on environmental projects, or at least seven to fifteen years working in an environmental analytical laboratory.
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Brice Engineering LLC has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes, and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
