JOB SUMMARY:
The Welder / Fabricator is a skilled tradesperson responsible for joining metal parts and structures using welding equipment and techniques. Typically working with blueprints, schematics, or specifications to fabricate, assemble, and repair metal components. Will be responsible for performing the required maintenance and service on the Yukon Equipment fleet, including basic maintenance and service for the service machinery, and required customer repairs. Also, will work closely with a Heavy Duty Mechanic II & III but may be assigned to work independently on specific tasks.

JOB SUMMARY:

Will be responsible for performing the required maintenance and service on the Yukon Equipment fleet, including basic maintenance and service for the service machinery, and required customer repairs. Also, will work closely with a Heavy Duty Mechanic II & III but may be assigned to work independently on specific tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Repair various pieces of heavy equipment including, but not limited to Trucks, Trailers, Excavators, Crawlers, Graders, Wheeled Loaders, Loader Backhoes, Skid Steers, Compactors and associated attachments.
- Component repair / rebuild – Structural, Attachments i.e. buckets, thumbs, undercarriages.
- Receive repair orders from customers; discuss concerns and turnaround expectations.
- Evaluate the extent of all equipment repairs and the level of action required.
- Review blueprints, schematic drawings, and job specifications to determine work requirements.
- Communicate the repairs and level of action required to direct supervisor.
- Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
- Perform a full range of weld processes and applies all aspects of weld procedures, including preheat temperatures, electrode selection, welding process, and quality control in accordance with the specific metallurgical properties of the material involved.
- Perform all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding.
- Ensure welding is compliant to weld specifications; prepare reports and conducts inspections as required.
- Perform physical labor that requires considerable use of one’s arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials at sites.
- Work closely with a variety of other trades.
- Fabrication and repair documentation on work order(s) and inspect all equipment repairs prior to delivering equipment to customer.
- Reach out to equipment manufacturers’ technicians when technical information is required to make repairs and/or modifications. Check for warranty issues with repairs and/or modifications.
- Handle customer complaints timely and according to the company’s guidelines.
- Help maintain a safe work environment and bring safety issues to the direct supervisor’s attention.
- Participate in the required company and equipment training.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- In-depth understanding of the basics of GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, Plasma, Gas, and Carbon Arc cutting.
- General knowledge and experience in operation and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment.
- Basic metallurgical understanding.
- Knowledge if the use of various wires and rods used in welding.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Ability to safely utilize and care for welding tools and equipment, and welding electrodes that are commonly used.
- Ability to weld in all positions, weather uphill, horizontal, overhead and/or at a 45-degree angle.
- Ability to attain and required weld certifications as required for the position and project needs.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to evaluate projects.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Familiarity with hazardous waste regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations.
- Ability to actively listen and provide high quality customer service.
- Ability to do business ethically with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
- Ability to be a team player.
- Ability to use standard business computers, and knowledge of various business applications presently used by the company; ability to learn new applications.

- Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) year of technical school or college courses in a related field is required.
- Vocational or technical training in various fabrication / welding techniques preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Yukon Equipment’s Driving Policy.
- Class A CDL preferred.
- Ability to qualify, and maintain qualifications to various welding procedures from SMAW, GMAW, FCAW in accordance with the American Welding Society.
- Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
