What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solution Test Engineering Intern position at Calix North America?
Calix is seeking a talented and passionate Solution Test Engineering Intern to join the Wi-Fi / Smart Home Solutions Test team for the summer months. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.
This position is part of a global test team that is providing software and quality assurance testing on an industry disrupting ecosystem comprised of cloud, IoT/embedded systems, and mobile applications. This position will primarily be focused on Wi-Fi and/or services testing in many test environments including a home, isolation chambers, and other telecom network environments.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Software and hardware testing comprising of Cloud services, IoT/embedded systems, and Wi-Fi hardware and/or applications
- Creating the required accompanying technical documentation and bug reports
- Creating a test strategy and/or automation to evaluate the complete end-to-end solution
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university and working towards an Engineering, Networking, or Telecommunications degree.
- Familiarity with the common features and configuration of a Wi-Fi router
- Familiarity of Wi-Fi standards IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be
- Comfortable with technology and learning new apps and platforms
- Experience in a role or project requiring analytical problem-solving skills and analysis
- Available to work effectively in a remote environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity and fast-changing environments
- Strong communication skills with all levels of an organization
- Experience with performance test methods and tools, e.g. – IxChariot, Spirent, Octoscope, Ixia, or iPerf is a plus
- Experience with the Python computer language is a plus
- Able to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September)
- Preference will be given to applicants who are currently in their Junior or Senior year of college with prior work experience

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.
