Summary/objective:
- Prepares accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. Provides knowledge of cost and benefits so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.
Essential functions:
- Able to perform complete takeoff from bid documents by breaking down each component.
- Solicitation of project specific quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
- Extract data from bid documents that impact pricing.
- Understanding capabilities of heavy equipment used within civil/site industry to accurately project utilization.
- Work hand in hand with the estimating department to prepare comprehensive budgets for multi-family residential, senior housing, and retail developments.
- Ability to read plans, specifications and geotechnical reports is a must.
- Prepare detailed sitework construction estimates inclusive of demolition, sitework, support of excavation, deep pile foundations, ground improvements, landscape, and hardscape finishes.
- Present budgets to clients and attend meetings throughout the pre-construction process.

- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Strong attention to detail.
Supervisory/Mentoring responsibilities:
- Work with other engineering staff and interns.
Required education and experience:
- Civil construction experience of 10 years.
- Experience performing detailed water, sewer and drain takeoffs.
- Experience with AutoCAD, On-Screen Takeoff, InSite earthworks software
- Knowledge of advanced functions of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other web-based applications.
- Experience with demolition, support of excavation, deep pile foundations, ground improvements, contaminated soil, and dewatering methods.
Preferred education and experience:
- Civil Engineering degree
- Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required
