What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deck Captain position at CALLAN MARINE LTD?
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Deck Captain works under direct supervision of the Captain and is responsible for and oversees all deck operations onboard the cutter suction dredge and the ancillary equipment. The Deck Captain will give direct supervision to the deck crew on board the cutter suction dredge, and to the floating equipment accompanying the dredge. The Deck Captain at Callan Marine is a working position, where you will be expected to supervise but also work together with the deck crew as part of your duties.
This position will be under the direct supervision of the Dredge Captain but also has a reporting line to the Chief Engineer on the performance of the deck gear, and floating equipment accompanying the dredge.
- Responsible for all deck operations on board the dredge
- Responsible for and coordinating anchor handling operations of the dredge and all floating- and submerge pipeline operations
- Responsible for and coordinating all maintenance and repairs on dredge equipment, such as cutter, pumps, onboard dredge pipeline, etc.
- Ensure adherence of all crew to applicable regulations in the field of safety, health, and environment
- Conducting and reviewing JSAs (Job Safety Analysis)
- Promote a good atmosphere with the deck crew and maintain necessary discipline
- Maintain a good working relationship with captain and crew of third-party hire equipment
- Initiate corrective and preventative actions to ensure goals are met
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State / Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
