What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detention Officer position at Callaway County?
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for full-time Detention Officers.
Applicants must pass a background screen and pre-employment drug test and must have a high school education or equivalent.
Must be 18 years of age
The starting salary is $41,000 annually, or $19.71 per hour full benefits (including free health insurance, two retirement programs, life insurance policy, vacation/sick/holiday pay, etc.).
Job Duties:
- Monitors and interacts with inmates.
- Maintains an awareness and understanding of the Jail’s requirements, laws, rules, processes, and procedures in order to sustain a safe environment for staff and inmates.
- Reviews inmate records and takes report from outgoing shift.
- Books and releases inmates as appropriate, assuring that all necessary paperwork requirements, laws, processes, and procedures are followed.
- Shackles and escorts inmates to and from court.
