What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Technician/Preventive Maintenance position at Callaway Gardens?
The General Technician is responsible for providing the preventive maintenance and upkeep of the hotel rooms & common areas of the Callaway Lodge & Spa.
Preventive maintenance entails regularly scheduled inspection of each hotel room on a rotating basis to ensure everything is in working order. All items contained within the hotel room must be fully operational prior to check-in of a guest. Care must be taken to ensure the following is completed (list not comprehensive):
- All outlets are in working order
- All lighting fixtures have working bulbs
- Television and remote control are operational
- Toilet, faucet and shower fixtures are working and properly affixed to the wall
- Doors close freely and are not warped
- Furniture is secure and stable; drawers are on track
The hotel room must be safe, fully operationally and guest-ready. A daily walk through of the designated areas and completion of a checklist will ensure items are completed.
In additional to providing preventive maintenance, the General Technician will attend to guest service calls in the event an items needs to be addressed in a guest room.
The General Technician is a highly visible position and has frequent guest interaction. Therefore, the General Tech must demonstrate professionalism at all times and have good customer service skills.
Experience in a hotel or related field helpful.
A minimum of one year experience in general maintenance required.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays. Long hours sometimes required.
Must be able to work well in stressful, high pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results. Must have a valid drivers license. Must be 21 years of age or older.
