Safety and Security Manager Job Description
Position Overview:
The Safety and Security Manager oversees day-to-day operations to ensure the safety and security of all guests, Hosts, and property at Callaway Resort & Gardens. This position develops and manages safety programs, protocols, emergency response, and security initiatives while supporting operational teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Duties
- Coordinate and provide First Aid/Emergency response for guests and Hosts, ensuring proper documentation and notifications.
- Track, compile, and present safety data for quarterly and annual reviews.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, and other safety regulations.
- Develop and oversee training programs on safety protocols for all departments.
- Collaborate with department leaders to ensure compliance with food safety, chemical handling, and alcohol service standards.
- Identify and resolve safety hazards and respond to safety-related guest feedback.
- Support annual risk management initiatives and maintain compliance with resort-specific safety standards.
- Lead the property's safety committee.
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory and emergency response agencies, fostering relationships with police, fire, EMS, and health departments.
Security Duties
- Supervise and manage supervisors, Security Dispatch Officers and Security Patrol Officers, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Monitor and maintain security systems such as alarm systems, access control, and surveillance equipment.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop improvement plans in collaboration with local authorities.
- Lead the Loss Prevention Program and conduct investigations when necessary.
- Provide detailed incident and loss prevention reports as needed.
- Partner with other departments to address security concerns and support special events.
- Provide leadership for parking/traffic control operation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies to include Herschend procedures and standards, and state security certifications.
- Respond to and resolve security-related guest complaints or incidents.
Leadership and Administrative Duties
- Develop and manage department budgets, control expenses, and track results.
- Provide coaching, feedback, development, and motivation to Hosts, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Ensure consistent enforcement of policies and procedures across the team.
- Attend required meetings and maintain regular communication with leadership.
- Maintain professional grooming standards and serve as a role model for the team.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in safety/security supervision, hospitality experience a plus.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certified.
- Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally, stand/sit for extended periods, and work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
This role requires the ability to lead under pressure, resolve conflicts efficiently, and maintain a focus on guest satisfaction and safety.
