The Prototype Technician will support the advanced technicians with prototyping efforts to reduce manufacturing lead time by preparing blank stocks, fixtures, and benching. This role is part of a team environment that understands golf club machining complexity.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Machines accurate prototypes per sketches, prints, engineering documentation, and verbal instructions.
Operates and sets up machines such as CNC equipment, mills, lathes, and grinders.
Performs three-axis CNC machining.
Performs dimensional inspection on machined products against industry standards and tolerances.
Works routine assignments involving CNC program editing and machining prototypes, mechanical components, tools, gauges, and fixtures.
Make shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
Machine and hand bench products.
Fits and assembles parts as needed.
May implement prototype fabrication methods for innovative designs, identify potential fabrication issues and suggest solutions.
Support the evaluation of new materials, construction methods, and surface finishes.
Work with the prototype finisher on golf clubs.
Utilize equipment to measure club attributes and or head attributes.
Maintain build records, materials, and related logs per established standards.
Perform essential maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Communicate directly with supervisor, peers, design, and engineers to understand the scope of work.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Able to efficiently use CNC (min 3 axis) machine tool technology and shop techniques.

Able to perform programming editing for CNC operations.

Able to read and understand CAD drawings, hand sketches, blueprints, tolerances, and dimensions.

Able to use and knowledge of hand and power tools.

Solid understanding of fabrication and fixturing

Effective communication skills and ability to contribute to a team environment.

Strong knowledge of measurement equipment, construction methods, and surface finishes.

Good understanding of how to read and apply requests from a work order.

Good knowledge of computers and data entry, including experience with Windows systems

Exposure to NX, Teamcenter Community, and Shop Floor Connect is a plus.

Ability to handle multiple areas and equipment in a changing priority environment with minimal supervision.

Familiarity with machining Titanium, Steel, Carbon Composite, Rubber, Aluminum, and Plastic.

Strong understanding of measurement tools and equipment (rules, calipers, scales, etc.)

Knowledge of Window Systems

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent

Associate degree in a technical field preferred.

two years' experience with three-axis CNC machining, fixturing, benching, fabrication, and construction methods.

Experience using various welding equipment (TIG, MIG, and laser) to shape and join pieces of steel, titanium, and other metals.

Excellent grinding and polishing skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)

Work is performed in a production environment.

Extensive use of production and prototype machinery

Regularly required to stand, bend at the neck, bend at the waist, squat, climb, kneel, or crawl.

Regularly twist at the neck and the waist.

Regularly required to use hands to finger to perform simple grasping, power grasping, and fine manipulation.

Regularly required to push or pull to reach above and below shoulder level.

Occasionally required to lift and carry up to fifty pounds, regularly lift and carry up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and carry up to fifty pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Regularly is exposed to excessive noise, work at heights, exposed to dust, fumes, or chemicals.
