About the Role:
As the Director of Institutional Giving, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our reach and impact. You will lead the development and execution of strategies to secure funding for our critical programs, capacity-building initiatives, capital projects, and general operating support. You will be a key partner in building and nurturing relationships with institutional funders, ensuring their long-term investment in our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Fundraising: Identify, research, and cultivate new institutional funding opportunities aligned with Callen-Lorde’s strategic priorities.
- Compelling Storytelling: Craft high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent, and reports that articulate our impact and needs.
- Relationship Building: Develop and implement engagement strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate and foundation donors.
- Collaboration & Partnership: Partner with senior leadership and program teams to assess funding needs and proactively pursue opportunities.
- Grant Management: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, manage reporting deadlines, and maintain accurate donor records.
- Data Integrity: Oversee the management of institutional donor records in our fundraising database and tracking systems.
- Team Contribution: Support Development team efforts related to fundraising campaigns and special events.
- Community Engagement: Represent Callen-Lorde at networking events and conferences to build relationships with philanthropy networks.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with some evening hours and occasional weekends for events.

Qualifications
Education, Experience:
- A cover letter and writing sample/proposal must be submitted for consideration
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, with a focus on institutional giving and grant writing.
- Demonstrated success in securing six- and seven-figure grants from foundations and corporations.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling grant proposals, reports, and donor communications.
- Experience working with program teams, finance staff, and senior leadership to develop funding strategies and impact reports.
- Familiarity with fundraising databases and online grant portals.
- Experience managing complex projects, including capital campaigns and capacity-building initiatives, is preferred.

Salary : $94,500 - $102,750
