Position: 911 Telecommunicator
Certification: Both certified and non-certified applicants are welcome to apply
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and process emergency calls with efficiency and professionalism
- Collect vital information from callers, ensuring accuracy and clarity
- Assess the urgency and type of each call to prioritize resources
- Dispatch the appropriate emergency services promptly
- Offer crucial pre-arrival instructions during emergencies
- Track the location of emergency responders via GPS and mapping technology
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of calls, actions, and outcomes
What We're Looking For:
- Previous telecommunication experience is a plus but not required
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency with data entry and operating various computer systems
- Ability to learn dispatching procedures and phone systems
- Knowledge of first aid is beneficial
- Calm, composed decision-making and conflict-resolution skills
- Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a plus
