Key Responsibilities:
- Total Patch Assignments: Perform pothole patching and street repairs as a primary duty.
- Mow, trim, and remove trash and brush.
- Load and unload materials such as stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, pipe, timber, and mechanical equipment.
- Clean up worksites.
- Operate power tools and machinery as needed.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks.
- Communicate effectively and work well in a team.
- Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
Skills:
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for extended periods, lifting heavy loads up to 50 pounds, etc.).
- Familiarity with power tools and machinery.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safety rules.
- Ability to maintain and safely operate equipment.
Work Environment: This role requires outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation. You may be exposed to hazards such as traffic, fumes, and noise. Safety gear like hard hats, safety glasses, and earplugs are required. Typical work hours are 40 hours per week, with potential overtime to complete projects. On-call availability for emergency situations affecting the safety and welfare of Calloway County is required.
