Peer Support Specialist

We are looking for a Peer Support Specialist who can support and assist individuals struggling with mental illness and substance abuse disorders. Individuals in this field should have a strong desire to help others reclaim their lives.

Purpose
- Engage individuals in their recovery process
- Provide hope and encouragement to support clients in their recovery
- Provide opportunities for clients to direct their own recovery process
- Act as an advocate for the needs of clients
- Work with clients on a one-to-one basis to support them in setting recovery goals
- Share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships
- Offer support to help clients develop the skills they need to facilitate their recovery
- Promote the use of natural supports and resources within the community
- Support clients in achieving the resiliency and recovery they want

Responsibilities
- Complete all required documentation in a timely, legible manner
- Ensure confidentiality of individual information
- Assess emergency situations, notify supervisor and/or appropriate personnel of actual and potential issues
- Maintain a nonjudgmental approach, effective listening, eye contact, professionalism, and positive interactions
- Assist clients in identifying strengths and readiness to actively pursue recovery goals
- Provide consistency and support to promote personal progress and accountability

Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 1-2 years of experience
- Access to transportation
- National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) or equivalent

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
- Peer Support Certificate (Required)
Work Location: Multiple locations
