Position Description & Responsibilities
The Project Scientist – 1 : Performing environmental site investigations including writing technical reports, soil boring logs, review of laboratory data, etc. Preparing New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Preliminary Assessment, Site Investigation and Remedial Action Reports along with writing various reports, soil boring logs, and review of laboratory data.
Some experience in mechanical and construction tasks is a plus. Physically fit to perform field activities such as soil and groundwater sampling, soil sampling, and field remediation tasks. Ability to self-manage when performing field and office tasks. Perform manual labor tasks at remediation sites such as lifting heavy objects, working a manual hand auger, collecting soil and groundwater samples, shoveling and other various manual labor tasks on remediation projects in the field. This position will involve working 60% to 75% in the field and 25% to 40% in the office. Filling out company forms and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection forms. The new hire will be trained by CALMAR Associates personnel in field sampling techniques and report writing and other field and in-office procedures and tasks. The new hire will attend a 40 Hour OSHA Safety Training class.
Requirements
· Possess a BS or BA degree in Environmental Studies or Environmental Science
· Strong attention to detail with analytical/critical thinking capabilities
· Strong writing skills
· Ability to follow directions, and work independently or in a team setting
· Effective communication skills, problem solving skills
· OSHA 40 Hour Safety trained a Plus
· Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office
· Available to work Monday through Friday
· Ability to travel locally and regionally
· Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.
