JOB TITLE : Elementary Assistant Principal

Purpose Statement:
The Elementary Assistant Principal is responsible to lead the development of Pre-K through fifth grade so as to ensure that students grow spiritually, academically, and socially. Successful performance results in accomplishment of CCA mission. Your passion and your efforts assist in fostering Christian spiritual growth in the students and will directly impact Calvary Christian Academy to achieve its religious mission to “make disciples” for Christ.
Scope:
The specific focus of this position is to assist the Elementary Principal with the implementation of plans, programs, policies, and procedures consistent with God’s Word. The function of this position is to assist with the areas designated herein in a manner consistent with the vision and direction of the Elementary Principal, the Director of Christian Education and leadership of Calvary Chapel. The assistant principal is charged with the responsibility of collaborating as indicated and necessary with the Elementary Principal and key staff of Calvary Chapel in carrying out his/her duties. This position interacts with all members of the Calvary Christian Academy community to communicate, consult, instruct, encourage, correct, and counsel in order to accomplish ministry goals and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Full time (40 hours/week); however, incumbent may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a CCA event, or assist with a special project or in an emergency situation affecting the church facilities.

Responsibilities:
- Provide motivation, direction, development and instruction for staff and teachers to accomplish their professional duties and personal commitment/devotion to Jesus Christ.
- Assist in development of school policies, plans and procedures to effect smooth, safe, efficient and effective operation of the Pre-K through fifth grade consistent with God’s Word toward mission accomplishment.
- Ensures campus safety and security
- Plan for adequate and efficient staffing for Pre-K through fifth grade
- Ensures efficient and effective arrival and dismissal of students
- Ensures necessary and advisable supervision of students
- Ensures safe and efficient use of volunteers
- Assists Elementary Principal in program planning for approval by Head of School toward mission accomplishment
- Formulates a plan in coordination with the Elementary Principal to use student achievement data to inform instruction. Implements a plan. Provides a report at least annually to the Elementary Principal.
- Ensures orientation of new staff.
- Maintains master calendar; acquires Elementary Principal approval for new events.
- Ensures necessary and advisable staff communication through monthly staff meetings.
- Collaborates as necessary and advisable with key CCA staff including athletic director, performing arts director, ACE director, etc.
- Conduct parent/teacher/student/conferences.
- Liaison between elementary school and clinic.
- Oversees elementary reception desk.
- Ensures requirements are met for inspections by BCCCLE and ACSI.
- Ensures files are completed for EE.
- Ensures actions delineated in school improvement plans. Informs Elementary Principal of concerns, issues.
- Ensures ongoing adherence to accreditation requirements. Informs Elementary Principal of concerns, issues.
- Oversees observations of Pre-K through fifth grade staff for teachers and teacher assistants.
- Ensures review of lesson plans, weekly team/dept meetings, provides support and accountability as necessary and advisable.
- Monitor staff adherence to school and church policy.
- Handle Pre-K – 5th grade discipline issues with support from AC Coordinator
- Ensures accurate student reporting and attendance designation.
- Ensures student recognition for achievement; coordinates awards chapels.
- Coordinates Elementary Parent/Teacher Conferences.
- Ensures staff attendance at devotions, CCA staff meetings, CCFL staff meetings.
- Ensures that potentially objectionable curricular materials, especially in reading and science, are approved before they’re utilized.
- Oversee the whole school ACSI Student Activity participation.
- Ensures whole-church virtues program implementation for Pre-K– 5th
- Maximizes resources available to meet exceptional, remedial, and enrichment needs of students
- Ensure effective and advisable class placement of students
- Ensure the effective scheduling of staff
- Collaborate in hiring and termination of staff in coordination with the Director of Christian Education, Elementary Principal including interviewing, recommending compensation, and facilitating the staff selection process.
- Make operational decisions including but not limited to student discipline, curriculum, student achievement, staff and parent needs, school events injury, sickness, personnel, security and safety concerns
- Collaborates and assists in planning, implementation, and execution of whole-academy events and initiatives.
- Approves field trips and ensures their safety and appropriate administration.
- Coordinates Elementary Chapel services
- Conducts admissions interviews and recommends admission when appropriate.
- Compiles documentation supporting recommendation of expulsion.
- Conducts fact-finding relative to potential child abuse and neglect reporting. Consults with Elementary Principal, Head of School and designated Calvary Chapel staff in determining course of action.
- Ensures accurate reporting and documentation of PTO, staff absences.
- Works to keep overtime appropriately in check.
- Develop and maintain job descriptions and work calendars for all staff you oversee and maintain and develop organizational chart of staff in consultation with Elementary Principal. Subject to approval of Head of School.
- Attends elementary school events.
- Consult effectively with and receive direction from the Elementary Principal to conduct and develop the school in a manner consistent with the values, philosophy, mission, and direction of CCA and Calvary Chapel. Emphasis to be placed on consultation in situations for which no conceptual framework or precedent has been determined to date.
- Assists in development and control of the annual budget.
- Oversees staff as per CCA organizational chart.
- Apprise Elementary Principal of ongoing and exceptional school issues, events, occurrences, and information that relates to students, staff, and parents.
- Oversees faculty development goals: classroom management and instructional methods/practices and appropriate Stanford objectives
- Oversee annual academic, spiritual, professional goals of assigned faculty.
- Specific focus on Teacher Assistants.
- Hiring and orientation of TA’s.
- Placement and scheduling of TA’s.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
