Calvert County Government is seeking candidates to fill various custodial positions with varying hours. Ideal candidates should possess excellent customer service and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have knowledge of custodial tasks such as the proper use of chemicals and cleaning processes.Performs building cleaning and related work. Work involves cleaning the inside of County buildings and facilities. Work requires ability to follow instructions. Work is performed under technical supervision. Essential Job FunctionsCleans restrooms, replenishes supplies, and cleans drinking fountains. Vacuums all carpet. Picks up and empties trash and recyclables. Washes trash cans as needed. Cleans glass in doors and other areas. Locks and unlocks doors as required. Polishes furniture. Cleans vents. Dusts all areas of facility. Cleans other buildings and areas as needed. Sweeps and mops interior stairs. Sweeps and cleans exterior stairs. Cleans interior windows, walls, woodwork, mirrors, doors, etc. Cleans spots on carpet as needed. Sweeps, mops, and buffs floors. Sweeps exterior entrance areas and empties ash/trash cans. Other DutiesPerforms related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)Ability to--Perform building cleaning work.Follow oral and written instructions.Deal effectively with the public. Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.) Training and/or Education: Completion of the eighth grade. Experience: Six months of relevant work experience. Licenses or Certificates: None Special Requirements: May be subject to background investigation. Physical Demands: Requires long periods of standing, frequent walking indoors, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching; recurring lifting of objects up to 49 pounds. Unusual Demands: Worker is exposed to dirt and soil, and hazards from working with waste material. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
