This executive-level position plays a crucial role in managing county functions, programs, and services while providing strategic leadership and policy direction. The Deputy County Administrator works closely with the County Administrator in overseeing day-to-day operations, driving key initiatives, coordinating diverse activities, and representing the County to various stakeholders.Key Responsibilities: Lead or oversee high-level project and initiatives aligned with the Board of County Commissioners' priorities; and tasks assigned by the County Administrator.Plan, direct, and evaluate county programs and services to ensure alignment with goals and objectives, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.Represent the County Administrator in meetings with government entities, private organizations, and community groups.Develop policy recommendations, operational improvements and comprehensive reports.Manage complex projects and initiatives that require direct oversight beyond departmental delegation.Serve as Acting County Administrator during short-term absences.Develop, refine and implement County Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.Contribute to budget development, fiscal oversight and capital improvement planning.Chair or participate in committees, task forces and intergovernmental workgroups to advance County priorities.Required Qualifications: (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)Training and/or Education: Master's degree in public administration or related field.Experience: Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in government administration, strategic and program management and public services operations.Special Requirements: Subject to background investigation.Compensation Steps: Position closing date: March 14, 2025Pay Rate: $180,000 - $195,000Contract position, FLSA ExemptCounty Administrator's OfficeCalvert County Government offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees' health, financial well-being, and work-life balance.
