Performs park, beach, and/or campground operations work. The work involves providing visitor and group services, facility maintenance, repairs, and enforcement of park, beach, and/or campground rules and regulations. The work requires prior experience. Workers report to a Beach and Campground Manager or Park Manager. This position has been authorized for a maximum of 40 hours per week, but under normal circumstances, the standard work hours for Peak Season (Memorial Day-Labor Day) are an average of 35 hours per week and Off Season (Labor Day-Memorial Day) are an average of 10 hours per week. Essential Job FunctionsResponsible for daily park, beach, and/or campground operations: opens and closes facility, performs trash pick-up and removal, collects and accounts for fees, cares for animals, ensures that services are open and ready for visitors. Provides information to visitors. Enforces park, beach, and/or campground rules and regulations. Responds to complaints, incidents and injuries. Performs general maintenance of facilities and equipment involving grass mowing & trimming, painting, carpentry, cleaning restrooms, and other similar tasks. Maintains daily records. Other DutiesPerforms related work as required. Prepares reports i.e., incident/accident. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)Knowledge of—General maintenance procedures.Effective techniques of supervision Skill in--Operation of a chainsaw. Ability to—Perform and supervise park, beach, and/or campground operations work.Perform facility maintenance work.Deal effectively with the general public and groups.Communicate effectively orally and in writing.Enforce rules and regulations.Provide brief introductory talks for registered groups.Work most weekends/holidays throughout the year. Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.) Training and /or Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Two years of experience in park operation, public facility operation (such as a community center) or related employment that involved significant public contact. Licenses or Certificates: Valid driver’s license required. Special Requirements: Subject to background investigation.Must be 18 years of age.Operation of County owned vehicle.Operation of park utility vehicle. Physical Demands: Requires long periods of standing, frequent walking outdoors, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching or reaching; recurring lifting of objects up to 49 pounds. Unusual Demands: Exposed to hazards of working with tools.Exposure to working in varied outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
