The Calvert County Government's Department of Communications is seeking a Media Specialist. In this role, you'll be assisting the Public Broadcast Producer in scripting, filming, editing and delivering original content for the different departments within the Calvert County Government enterprise. You will also be responsible for assisting in the media and live feed for the Board of County Commissioners meetings each Tuesday morning, as well as any other live forums, events or meetings. Additionally, photography assignments (such as headshots and special events) and keeping the studio and production truck clean and organized will be expected. You must be a self-starter who takes initiative and is willing to help out in sometimes stressful situations. A professional appearance and respectful demeanor are essential. Punctuality and dependability are critical.Creates and executes digital design solutions for multiple media products. Creates multimedia marketing materials for County departments and participates in project ideation, graphics development and user-interface architecture. Works with the Deputy Director to integrate technology into marketing and citizen communication strategies. Produces and edits video projects and provides graphic design support. Researches current trends and ensures execution of multimedia advertising, marketing and communication programs with target audiences in mind.Essential Job FunctionsCoordinates and integrates multimedia programs, including but not limited to, public access television and Web interfaces.Interfaces with radio and television production teams and works with vendors to recommend methods for producing video production.Develops marketing materials in digital format including DVD, CD, web and television.Provides primary support across agencies in public information capacity.Works with County departments on new media techniques and methods for communicating with mass markets.Coordinates special multimedia projects on an as needed basis for County agencies.Provides graphic design support across agencies.Catalogs electronic photo and media library.Other DutiesPerforms related work as required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)Knowledge of—Live video streaming technology.Latest technology in audio-visual, graphic design and multimedia equipment.Skill in --Communicating with others.Constructing, storing, operating, repairing, maintaining and safeguarding equipment and databases.Ability to--Train staff on web maintenance/multimedia equipmentMeet deadlines due to the nature of work.Create effective communication materials.Communicate with vendors and county departments.Develop, maintain and manipulate databases.Deal effectively with the public.Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)Training and/or Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by courses in audiovisual technology, graphics, graphic design or multimedia training.Experience: One year in video production, graphic design and two years working with computers and computer peripherals.Licenses or Certificates: Valid driver’s license.Special Requirements: None.Physical Demands: Requires ordinary physical effort to sit, walk, stand, bend, and reach or to carry items both within an office setting and outdoors.Unusual Demands: Subject to frequent interruptions.Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.FLSA Status: |Non-exemptCompensation Steps: Position closing date: February 19, 2025Pay rate: $29.50 - $33.82 per hour; $53,690 - $61,552 annuallyGrade 721, full-time position, 35 hours per weekDepartment of Communications and Media RelationsCalvert County Government offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees' health, financial well-being, and work-life balance.
