The Calvert County Government's Technology Services Department is seeking a Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. In this role, you will work primarily with the SCCM platform to maintain and enhance Windows images, deploy enterprise and standard software applications, and lead development on SCCM/Intune for the county. This role requires extensive knowledge of PowerShell, image management, software lifecycles, and experience in analyzing and planning large-scale deployments in collaboration with other teams.This position will primarily focus on creating, deploying, and maintaining applications, packages, and task sequences within the SCCM environment. Additionally, the role will involve collaborating with internal teams to implement and manage Intune for a hybrid environment at CCG.The Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is responsible for the design, deployment, and management of the MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) infrastructure, including servers, databases, SCCM, and all related components. The role involves planning and executing software deployments to end-user devices, managing patches to keep systems and applications secure, and enforcing configuration settings and compliance rules across the organization.This position also monitors the MECM environment to prevent issues, ensures high availability and performance, and provides support to end-users and IT teams. Responsibilities include tracking changes, maintaining documentation, and implementing automation to improve efficiency. Collaboration with security teams and other departments is key to ensuring security standards are met and providing technical insight for projects.This position reports to the Enterprise Applications Manager. Essential Job FunctionsDesigns, configures and maintains the MECM infrastructure, including servers, databases, and related components. Ensures high availability and optimal performance of MECM services.Plans, coordinates, and executes software deployments to end-user devices using MECM including creating and maintaining software packages, application deployments, and task sequences.Implements and manages patches using MECM, ensuring that operating systems and applications are up-to-date and secure.Creates and enforces device configuration settings, policies, and compliance rules using MECM. Ensures consistent and standardized configurations across the organization.Generates and analyzes reports related to software deployments, hardware, compliance, and system health. Monitors MECM environment to identify and address potential issues proactively.Diagnoses and resolves issues related to MECM deployments, configurations, and client connectivity. Provides timely and effective support to end-users and IT teams.Collaborates with security teams to ensure that software deployments and configurations adhere to security standards and regulatory requirements.Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including analysts, network, asset, and stakeholders, to understand technical requirements, address concerns, and provide technical insight into ongoing projects.Maintains comprehensive documentation of MECM configurations, procedures, and best practices. Keeps track of changes and updates made to the MECM environment.Implement automation solutions to streamline routine tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall MECM environment.Develops and manages OS deployment processes and task sequences, enabling efficient deployment of new operating systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)Knowledge of--Packaging tools such as PACE, InstallShield, Powershell AppDeploy Toolkit (PSADT),Ivanti, and other similar tools.Office 365, Networking, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory, with a deep understanding of how these technologies integrate with endpoint management.PowerShell scripting for automating and customizing software deployments.Managing WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) functionality for computers, and servers.Ability to--Create and maintain technical business process documentation.Communicate complex technical issues both orally and in writing.Apply analytical skills to solve complex technical problems and recommend alternatives.Conduct systems analysis and requirements gathering.Configure and maintain business applications software.Communicate difficult information respectfully and tactfully.Establish and maintain effective working relationships and good customer service. Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.)Training and/or Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.Experience: Three years of experience as a Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager or in a similar role, with in-depth knowledge of MECM infrastructure and functionality.Licenses or Certificates: NoneSpecial Requirements: Subject to background investigation.Physical Demands: Operation of keyboard devices.Unusual Demands: Work is subject to deadlines and frequent interruptions. Employee will be required to make out-of-hours system upgrades and may be subject to call-in or to remain on the job for emergencies.FLSA Status: Exempt Compensation Steps: Position closing date: February 13, 2025Pay rate: $85,779 - $98,467 annuallyGrade 725, full-time position, 40 hours per weekDepartment of Technology ServicesThis position allows for telework, meaning the employee may be able to work from home or another offsite location for part of the workweek, but they are still required to come into the office regularly.
