Assists Manager with overall operation of multiple swimming pools including water quality, supervision of lifeguards, collection of fees, work schedules, and general maintenance and cleaning. This is a summer position in the Recreation Division. Assistant Pool Manager reports to Division Chief, Aquatics Supervisor and Pool Manager. Supervises Lifeguards. Essential Job FunctionsAssists the manager in the overall operation of the pools, water slides, water park features, and concession stand. Responsible for all aspects of pool operation in the absence of the manager. Supervises lifeguarding staff. Monitors and tests water quality levels; makes corrections as necessary. Performs routine cleaning of the pool, bathhouse, and related areas. Collects entry fees. Completes reports relating to fees, attendance, and water quality as required by the Recreation Division and Health Department. Enforces all rules and regulations as they relate to pool safety. Opens and closes the pool as instructed. Performs lifeguarding duties. Other Job Duties (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.) Attends weekly training sessions. Performs related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.)Knowledge of—Pool operations and sanitation. Ability to—Supervise the work of others.Deal effectively with the public. Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.) Training and/or Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent, or current enrollment as a high school student. Experience: One year of experience as a lifeguard. Licenses or Certificates: Current Maryland Pool Operator's license; current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate. Special Requirements: Must be age 18 or have work permit.Subject to background investigation. Physical Demands: Work requires medium to heavy physical effort.
