Performs general office clerical work in support of treasurer department operations. The work involves maintaining accounting records of payments received and processed in the department; in addition, the worker receives and processes payments due to the County, issues licenses, and responds to taxpayer inquiries in person and by telephone. Responsible for supervision and training of staff. The work is performed under close to general supervision of administrative staff. Essential Job FunctionsTrains staff to assist in cash register settlements and supervises Treasurer Clerk I positions. Receives, checks and verifies, and processes payments to the County such as water and sewer charges and taxes. Calculates amounts for tax bills. Collects payments for and issues dog tags and car renewal stickers. Assists and responds to inquiries from the public regarding taxes, payments, licenses and related matters. Answers telephone calls and processes incoming mail. Disburses petty cash. Processes refunds; completes tax sale paperwork (redemption and increases); works up increases and decreases from the State for real and personal property; prepares deposits; performs audits on personal property; and prepares monthly state reports. Sets up and closes out the computers in the office. Performs general office clerical work as assigned. Other DutiesPerforms related work as required.
