POSITION:
Certified Computer Repair Technician
LOCATION:
Central Office – Brooks Administration Building
POSITION SUMMARY:
The certified computer repair technician is responsible for installing hardware and software in stand-alone and network environments. This position is responsible for evaluating, detecting, and troubleshooting various types of issues affecting computer systems and works to resolve them. In this position, the certified repair technician will perform on-site repairs of computer equipment and peripherals, resulting in quicker turnaround times and a significant reduction in repair costs for Calvert County Public Schools. This position may be required to assist other Computer Technicians to resolve tickets and other duties, time permitting. The certified computer repair technician takes direction from the supervisor of Information Technology or designee.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or possession of a GED certificate
- Two years of experience in the technological field.
- Current CompTIA A certification required.
- Technical Repair Coursework (ECPI, etc.) is preferred.
- Lenovo and/or HP self-maintainer certification is preferred. CCPS will provide certification training upon hire.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing hardware and software issues in a professional environment, preferably within an educational setting.
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Ability to self-manage time and manage tickets - including administrative tasks tied to ticketing (closing, updating etc.)
- Ability to work alone or with remote teams.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting repair activities and maintaining inventory records.
- Ability to accurately provide troubleshooting notes to show diagnostic steps.
- Effective communicator with end users, administrators, teachers, and supervisors, both orally and in written form.
- Excellent documentation skills, ability to write technical processes and procedures.
- Proven troubleshooting skills, and ability to work through problems until solved.
- Ability to accurately and legibly fill out repair tickets.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail with focus on quality.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Able to positively interface with employees, customers, and vendors.
- Possess a valid Class C driver’s license. The chosen candidate will be required to provide Calvert County Public Schools with a current copy of his/her driving record prior to the start of employment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software issues on computers, laptops, printers, peripherals and other technology equipment utilized within the school district.
- Install, configure and maintain operating systems, software applications and updates on devices as necessary to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff and administrators to provide technical support assistance with technology-related concerns.
- Manage inventory of computer equipment, parts and supplies ensuring adequate stock levels for timely repairs and replacements.
- Maintain accurate records of repair activities, service requests and inventory management using designated systems or software.
- Implement preventative maintenance procedures to extend the lifespan and reliability of technological assets including regular cleaning, inspections and software optimizations.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in computer repair and IT support, participating in professional development opportunities as needed.
- Accurately record and track repairs and close tickets
- Communicate with schools and departments regarding damage investigations and repair work coverage.
- Accurately track student obligations and communicate them with schools and departments.
- Provide guidance to staff members regarding investigations and repair work coverage.
- Deliver repaired devices to our customers as needed.
- Maintain A and self-maintainer certifications.
- Assist in developing technical documentation to improve training and service delivery.
- Provide incident management, diagnosis, escalation, tracking, and resolution.
- Provide outstanding customer service and a positive support experience by interfacing directly with clients on issues, communicating in a clear, concise manner both verbally and electronically.
- Assist Computer Technicians in resolving tickets and other duties, time permitting.
- Follow established processes and standards, identify, and propose improvements as necessary.
- Maintain a professional appearance.

OTHER DUTIES:
Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor limit duties that might reasonably be assigned. Performs related work as required or assigned by the Supervisor of Department of Information Technology.
SPECIAL REQUIRENMENTS:
Within 30 days of hire, employee must successfully complete the Lenovo certification process.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires significant periods of standing and walking. Transport and unpacking of items not to exceed 50 pounds per carton. Will be required to regularly use a keyboard.
UNUSUAL DEMANDS:
May be subject to emergency calls.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) month, 8-hour per day position. Salary commensurate with qualifications applied to the current salary schedule for support employees (Scale 25: $29.56/hr - $38.10/hr). If chosen for this position, the candidate must enroll in direct deposit.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

2024-2025 school year
