POSITION : SENIOR NAVAL SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR (SNSI)
LOCATION : Calvert High School
POSITION SUMMARY : The SNSI is responsible for the instruction and operation of the NJROTC unit, including teaching a multi-subject curriculum, instructing in military drill and extra-curriculars, and counseling students about the NJROTC program. The SNSI ensures policies and procedures relative to the administration of the NJROTC program are met. Under direction of the school principal, the SNSI, in conjunction with the NSI, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students and provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure student success.
REPORTS TO : School Principal or designee
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE :
At the time of application, the candidate must :
- Have Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) certification from the Department of the Navy.
- Have at least 20 years active duty service in the United State Navy or Coast Guard as a commissioned officer in grades W2 - 06.
- Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS : These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions. At the time of application, the candidate must :

OTHER DUTIES : Performs related work as required or assigned by the School Principal or designee
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment.
UNUSUAL DEMANDS : May be subject to a flexible work schedule.
FLSA STATUS : Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Twelve (12) month position with salary determined by the Department of Navy. An additional annual stipend is included for work beyond the normal school day. All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.
EVALUATION : Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION : 2024-2025 school year

References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.
State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
