Job description:

Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Climate United”), is seeking a full-time Director of Equitable Workforce to lead labor and workforce efforts. The Director will be instrumental in shaping and executing comprehensive strategies to ensure that qualified clean energy and efficiency projects financed by Climate United and our partners have access to a diverse, skilled workforce. This role will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key labor unions, workforce and labor organizations, developers, installers, and OEMs. The Director will be an internal expert and resource on labor and workforce for the Climate United coalition and represent the organization publicly on workforce issues. This role will collaborate closely with other Climate United teams including Community Outreach, Compliance, and Investments, as well as the leadership team broadly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead workforce and labor planning and execution for Climate United, enabling the coalition to help build a robust, diverse, and equitable clean energy workforce.
  • Build and maintain relationships with labor unions, workforce training organizations, minority-serving institutions (MSIs), federal agencies, state workforce boards, and other labor organizations.
  • Track industry workforce trends and best practices, and build partnerships with developers, installers, contractors, and clean energy equipment manufacturers.
  • Serve as an in-house expert and resource on workforce issues and represent the coalition publicly as needed.
  • In collaboration with the Community Outreach, Investments, and Compliance teams, coalition members, partners, and external contractors, implement Davis-Bacon and Related Acts (DBRA) and prevailing wage strategies.
  • Provide support to the leadership team for key speaking engagements and events, representing Climate United with credibility and professionalism.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in workforce development, pre-apprenticeship programs, labor unions, and/or other workforce organizations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in program development and/or management, with a preference for government-led or -funded programs.
  • Expertise in Davis-Bacon and Related Acts (DBRA), prevailing wage strategies, and their application for clean energy projects.
  • Extensive existing relationships with clean energy developers, installers, contractors, distributors, and clean energy manufacturers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data insights for informed decision-making and performance optimization.
  • Passionate about the mission and vision of Climate United and committed to an equitable clean energy transition.
  • Possesses intellectual curiosity, integrity, and a collaborative mindset, contributing to a positive team-oriented culture.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the Washington, DC area or be willing to come into the office quarterly for team collaboration.
